So, here it is. She's pushing now. Anesthesia is wearing off a bit so she can feel right when to give it her all. And she is. This is between contractions, so it will be a quick one. She's doing great and we've seen the little guy's head. At least the tip of his cone-head... :-)
We've decided to add a little pit to make the contractions stronger and more often, so it is really coming to the time!

Taken and then uploaded between contractions!

Woohoo!! Happy Birthday, Caleb!!!
Thank Heavens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Mom to you and Maga to Caleb!
I held on to a sheet and pulled, and that did wonders in helping me push with a lot more strength. Finally!
My dearest Princess,
I figured out why you've been required to go through such a long purging process. When I looked at Dans new post this morning I saw the Flag from Hell, a red shirt on Dan. Bri its because Dan wore a RED Shirt that you've been required to do this extra penance. Dan please get the unlucky shirt off and burn it. Get someone to buy you a BLUEEEEEEEEEE! one so our little Caleb will be born into a world that is True Blue. I will buy the BLUE Shirt go do it now so when Caleb comes out he'll sense his destiny and that all is well in the world.
My dearest Bri your ordeal has triggered so many parallels to life so allow me to share them with you.
Dan mentioned to Mom on the phone that its like you've run marathon after marathon in your 40 hour ordeal. It trigger for me a true story about my brother Peter the best athlete of all the six Phillips boys. He decided to run a marathon so he goes out and runs his first race in under three hours. To give you context for that my oldest brother Michael had been running marathons for ten years and had never broke the tape anywhere close to three hours. Peter always quietly just went out and did it because like you princess he had your gift of "Iron Will". Remember the great Russian proverb that states "The hammer that shatters glass forges steel". Like you Bri in his first race he "hit the wall" and should have never finished the race but in true Peter form/Bri he pushed on and ended up breaking the mythical 3 hour barrier in his first race. He had to be put into ice to bring down his body heat that was out of control. This is rarefied air that only the greats are willing to breathe. After Peters first experience he reset his goals to qualify for the Boston Marathon the second time around that required running 2 hours and 42 minutes. Like you Bri this was his version of your "I going to qualify for the MTN Bike world championships". Peter went out and trained with a guy that had run Boston and was Cal Poly's track coach. Peter was given a training regiment that he followed to the letter just believing it would get him to the line to achieve his dream. Your preparation for little Caleb has been very similar. Rain or shine Peter trained just like you have Bri and as he ran his qualifying race in the Giant Red Woods in Northern Cal he had one of the greatest experiences of his life even though it was excruciating pain. He hit the tape at the exact time required of 2:42 that he'd written on a card three months prior to the race (getting home with little Caleb). So only the Peter's and the Bri's of this world understand why its worth going through the preparation, pain and suffering to achieve a goal. My littlest princess you have like Peter gone beyond what you thought would be required to achieve your goal but like Peter you've endured far past anything most mortals could. I find it interesting that the magic number is "10" before baby Caleb will come. With the Olympics upon us it makes me think of the number 10 as they do in gymnastics that represents the highest score possible. Athletes all their life dream of seeing the score card held up that reads; 10;10;10;10:10 across the judges table. I want you to know that all your friends and family are holding up the score card that as you've run your race to hit the tape and bring Caleb home we score the effort of his Queen Mother as the biggest 10 ever awarded. May you feel our faith and prayers and the Father bringing you and Caleb home in the most important race of your life. This race is called the perpetuation of the "Human Race" and more importantly the beginning of your Eternal Family! Your my little champion my love, we are all so proud of the race you've run. It is an inspiration to all of us. Pap
dang Bri you Dad makes me cry.....one of my favorite sayings is from little nemo...keep on swimming...:) isn't it so fitting that an endurance athlete is having a birth that is putting all her previous experience to the test...we love ya!
Horray! I just learned this, but sometimes gagging helps moms push more effectively. I am sure she is doing great, but it is a thought. Pulling on the sheet is great too!
My DH wishes you guys had a streaming web cam set up. I am driving him crazy checking for updates!
